Introducing the Hong Kong College of Medicine

The Hong Kong College of Medicine was founded in 1887 by private practitioners in western medicine to train Chinese doctors in the use of western medicine to serve the Chinese community. On display is a pictorial history of the prominent practitioners: Sir Kai Ho who donated the cost of building the teaching hospital, the Alice Memorial Hospital, in memory of his wife who died only a few years after she came to Hong Kong; Sir Patrick Manson, the founding Dean; Sir James Cantlie who taught surgery; and the most famous graduate of the College, Dr Sun Yat-sen who graduated in 1892.
