The Spleen in Chinese and in Western Medicine

In western medicine, the spleen is anatomically in the abdomen and has the important role of cleansing blood and protecting the body from infection. From the Chinese medicine perspective, the zSpleen (a zang organ) governs transportation and transformation of nutrients and refers to the digestive system. It includes the spleen, pancreas, stomach and intestines in a zSpleen system.
